Paul is speaking about his “thorn in the flesh” that frustrated him. Despite three requests in prayer to remove it the Lord told him,

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Cor. 12;9)

Or misconceptions about weakness
1. That they are harmful
2. That we are unworthy of their frustrations and inconveniences
3. They hinder the progress of the kingdom
4. They are roadblocks not doorways

The encouragement is that
1. They provide an opportunity to display God’s power.
2. They make us needful, appreciative and hungry for God’s grace.
3. They give us access to a power manifestation would or could not know without them.

I am reluctantly comforted that God’s power shines through the cracks of my weaknesses”. (2 Cor. 12:9). Sometimes what we need is MORE GRACE not MORE DELIVERANCE. God help me to need, want, accept and receive the grace that shines through the cracks of my weaknesses.

It is interesting that Paul pinpoints the area of boasting in these chapters. He then goes on to say that we should only boast of what God does. Chapter 12:9 says that power is made in our weakness and Paul mentions that we should be made weak so God can put his strength in us. What is important in this weakness approach is that when we are weak we have nothing stopping us from God like pride. In our weakness, our point when we are stripped bare, God comes in and makes us strong. It is quite the opposite of what most of us think that we have to be naturally strong. It is weakness that makes us ultimately strong.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

These verses spoke right to me this morning. I am so weak physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and just reading this reminder was just what I needed.

My Bible commentary had this to say:

The greater our weakness and trials for Christ, the more grace God will give to accomplish his will. What he gives is always sufficient for us to live our daily lives, to work for him, and to endure our suffering and "thorns" in the flesh. As long as we draw near to Christ, Christ will give us his heavenly strength and comfort.

Thank you, Lord, for your grace and your faithfulness. Even through the tough times, you can be glorified!

Paul is talking to the church about false teachers that come and deceive with their fancy, educated speech. Paul warns the church of these false teachers and calls them out for what they are... Satan's workers. They are trouble-markers who come and breed confusion! In 2 Cor 11: 13- it says Satan dresses up as a beautiful angel of light.
That is what these false prophets are doing. We as Christians need to be aware of who we listening to. What is being taught? Can it be backed up with scripture?
My prayer is that God will make me aware when a false teacher comes across my path. The only way I can be alerted, is to be in prayer and know the Word of God.
