2 Thes. 2:1-3. I recently learned about Preterism when a respected friend converted to it and tried to get me to also. But it's obvious that it isn't true, these events have not all occured yet.
It's hard to understand when highly educated people in society sometimes don't accept the most obvious truths.
People believe in false doctrines because they are searching for something to fill in the void that only God can fill. It breaks my heart to see so many devote their lives to a lie. There are so many lies out there, but only one truth. We need to be a beacon of light in the darkness, we need to stand out, and be living vessels of God's truth. We need to love as God has loved us so we can show we have the "real thing".
I Tim 1:13 Paul scoffed at the name of Christ, hunted down His people, harming them in every way he could. But God had mercy on him because he did it in ignorance and unbelief. I've always believed God was over all and that it was good to read and memorize scriptures as a child. Then God's Word would be carried in my heart for all time. It wasn't until I began reading the Bible as a novel (unable to put down) that I learned more about God. He is Lord and Christ is the Mediator between earth and the Father and the Holy Spirit will open eyes, and hearts to this realization. I believe in all three.
The Power of 3 is now offering a small group companion class each Wednesday at the Alameda Campus. This “group huddle” offers: · Casual atmosphere with coffee and refreshments. · Group interaction and an opportunity to share and grow from what others have learned through the reading plan that week. · In-depth teaching from Pastor Roncone on one of the passages contained in that week’s reading plan.
This is a wonderful opportunity to harness the power of good planning, group interaction and personal accountability in bringing life-giving habits to your spiritual growth. It all starts January 6, 2010 at 7:00 pm at Aurora First.
